Serving the Polk County Region & Beyond
In 1997, a group of residents who cared about shaping their city’s future established the Community Foundation of Greater Lakeland (CFGL). Initially established as an affiliate of the Tampa Community Foundation, the CFGL became a stand-alone 501(c)3 public charity in 2000. Four years later, another group of community-minded citizens came together to establish an affiliate of the CFGL, the Community Foundation of Greater Winter Haven.
Through the years, the two organizations served neighboring geographic areas and accomplished great things. In 2013, the decision was made to combine their resources and form one community foundation that was capable of doing even greater work throughout the Polk County region. The Red Ribbon Half Marathon, 5K & Kids Fun Run is a family event where adults can compete in the Half Marathon or 5K, and children can participate in the Kids Fun Run.
This year’s tournament offers an 8-inch cup instead of regulation size. We all know that a little help makes a big difference. With a little help from you through tournament play or sponsorship, you too can make a big difference in the life of a child with special needs.

The Harrison fund is instrumental in helping us provide a rigorous arts education to the students of Polk County. It allows us to assist under-served students with specific academic needs as well as allowing us to offer scholarships for students pursuing a post-secondary education. Since 1960, Central Florida Speech and Hearing Center has proudly served the citizens of Polk County and the surrounding areas.
