GWCF’s Board of Directors adds four new members.

LAKELAND, FL (June 4, 2021) – GiveWell Community Foundation is excited to announce the addition of four new members to the Board of Directors: Ann Barnhart, Christina Criser Jackson, Katrina Lunsford, and George Tinsley, Sr. The four new members were unanimously approved at the final board meeting of GWCF’s fiscal year on May 25 and will join the Board of Directors on July 1. Get to know each of the new board members below.

Ann Barnhart serves as AdventhHealth’s Chief Business Development Officer for Heart of Florida and Polk County. Prior to her current role, Ann was the Market CEO at Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center in Haines City, where she had direct administrative and operational responsibility for the hospital, associated urgent care centers, free-standing E.R, ambulatory surgery center and employed physician practices as well as operational oversight of Lake Wales Medical Center. With over 40 years of experience in healthcare, Ann began her career at Yale New Haven Hospital, in Connecticut. She joined Health Management Associates in 1993 where she held COO and CEO positions with the company prior to her promotion to Senior Vice President where she had administrative oversight of 12 hospitals in the Western Division. Ann moved into the Market CEO role for Community Health Systems who acquired HMA in 2014.

Christina Criser Jackson is the President and CEO of United Way of Central Florida. Christina earned her Masters in Family, Youth and Community Studies at the University of Florida. Christina is President Elect of Association of Fundraising Professionals for the State of Florida, a Board Member of Polk Vision, Sustainer for Junior League, graduate of the United Way Worldwide Advanced Leadership Program, graduate of Leadership Lakeland, member of United Way Worldwide LEAD, member of the United Way of Florida Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, council member of LIFT Lakeland and was recently awarded University of Florida 40 Under 40. She and her husband, Eric Jackson, are proud members of the Tocqueville Society and multiple community organizations. They are proud to raise their daughter Olivia in Central Florida.

Katrina Lunsford is Vice-President Business Banking with Fifth Third Bank. Perhaps more importantly, Katrina is the Senior Pastor of Cornerstone True Fellowship, located in Lake Wales, FL. As the successor of her late husband, Senior Pastor Thomas Lunsford, Pastor Katrina Lunsford continues her 42-year journey in ministerial service for Christ. Katrina earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from Troy University in 1983. While at Troy, she joined the Mu Alpha chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc and served as Leadership for the Campus Ministry and Spiritual Oversight. Upon graduating from college, Katrina began her career in banking. With over 35 years of experience, she has successfully navigated the corporate terrain and has become a noteworthy leader in the industry. Katrina also owns Lunsford Innovative Consulting, LLC, which offers strategic planning, nonprofit financial management, and various other services to both businesses and nonprofit organizations.
George Tinsley, Sr. serves as President & CEO of Tinsley Family Concessions and of numerous related entities. His companies own and operate 60 restaurants with most locations in Miami, Tampa, and Louisville airports. George is a caring leader and inspiring speaker who enhances the communities where he lives and operates. He improves the lives of his employees and countless youth, athletes, professionals, and entrepreneurs he mentors and/or speaks to each year. George received his B.S. degree from Kentucky Wesleyan College in Louisville, Kentucky. After college, George played professional basketball for a few years before beginning a long and successful business career. He also holds an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Kentucky Wesleyan College in Humanities. George has been involved in numerous Board and Civic Leadership positions during his career.

Outgoing Board Members

Three board members will be retiring from the GWCF Board of Directors on June 30. Richard Stephens has served on the Investment Committee and Grants Committee during his combined 14 years as a board member of the GiveWell Community Foundation and (prior to that) Community Foundation of Greater Lakeland. Tim Putnam has served on the Governance, Investment, and Nominating committees during his combined 18 years as a board member of the GiveWell Community Foundation and (prior to that) Community Foundation of Greater Winter Haven. Renee Pobjecky has served on the Search Committee and Grants Committee in her three years as a GiveWell Community Foundation board member.

Richard, Tim, and Renee were recognized at the May 25 board meeting for their outstanding service to the foundation.
