LAKELAND, FL (October 25, 2019) – This morning, nonprofit board members, executive directors, and fundraising professionals from around the community convened for our third annual Nonprofit Workshop. This year, we partnered with the Greater Polk County Chapter of the Association of Fundrasing Professionals (AFP). GWCF agency fundholders and AFP members were treated to a half-day fundraising seminar at Lone Palm Golf Club in Lakeland. Two CFRE (certified fundraising executives) points were available for attendees.
Camp Fire U. S. A. Sunshine Council’s Executive Director and two board members opened the seminar. They shared how their board of directors has stepped up to overcome years of challenges facing the organization. We commend their willingness to be open and share the lessons that they learned.
Next, Kerry A. Bartlett, CFRE, MBA presented an interactive session on building and maintaining authentic donor relationships. Attendees had the opportunity to practice new strategies and share successes and best practices.
Holly Parrish, CFRE, MPA closed the workshop with a presentation on “Making the Ask.” Holly presented multiple strategies on how to ask the right questions and maximize “ask” opportunities with donors. Participants had the opportunity to craft their own “asks” and try them out.
GiveWell Community Foundation would like to thank the sponsors of the 2019 Nonprofit Workshop who helped make this event possible: Bank of Central Florida and CAPTRUST.
