LAKELAND, FL (October 28, 2021) – This morning, GiveWell Community Foundation hosted its fourth annual Nonprofit Workshop at Lone Palm Golf Club in Lakeland. This half-day fundraising seminar was available exclusively to local nonprofit organizations with agency funds. This year’s workshop was designed for nonprofit board members and executive directors. Topics ranged from board responsibilities to planned giving.
Steve Higgins, CFRE, President/CEO and Stacy Williams, CFRE, Managing Director of Carter, Advancing Philanthropy Worldwide led an interactive session focused on energizing board members, maximizing their impact, and deciphering the roles of board and staff members.
Next, a presentation by Beverley McLain, MBA, CAP of McLain Consulting LLC answered questions many nonprofits have about planned giving. Questions such as, why should we put resources toward planned giving when we need gifts now?, who are these planned giving donors, and where would we find them?, what if it’s too complicated?, and what do donor advised funds have to do with planned giving?
