LAKELAND (July 25, 2022) – Two Polk County nonprofit medical clinics have received grants to provide medical care for Winter Haven residents without access to medical insurance. Angels Care of Eloise and The Haley Center were selected to receive a combined total of $20,666.25. These grants were awarded through the GiveWell Community Foundation’s Community Clinic Grant Program.
This program has awarded more than $160,000 over the last 16 years thanks to annual funding from the Yardley, England, Trimmer, and Orlich Charities Fund at the Central Florida Foundation. This year, the program also received a $10,000 grant from the Bell-Barnett Family Fund within the GiveWell Community Foundation.
Angels Care Center of Eloise is a faith-based primary care clinic that provides free health care to residents in the Eloise, FL area without medical health insurance. Volunteer physicians provide general health care at the facility, and the clinic negotiates with local medical centers to provide specialized services at reduced rates. The $10,000 Angels Care Center of Eloise received will help cover costs of dental care, eye surgery, and orthopedic injuries for indigent, migrant, and homeless residents. The Haley Center is a medical facility that offers consistent, comprehensive, and quality care for residents of Polk County who cannot afford healthcare coverage. More than 40 medical providers volunteer their time to provide care. The Haley Center received $10,666.25 to purchase two pieces of medical equipment: a colposcope for women’s health and DCA Vantage Analyzer for diabetic patients. Having these devices on-site will help physicians quickly identify abnormalities and prevent the delay of necessary treatment. Visit thehaleycenter.org to learn more about The Haley Center.
