For Giving Tuesday Now, donations to the United Community Relief Fund will be matched up to $50,000.
LAKELAND, FL (May 5, 2020) – GiveWell Community Foundation and United Way of Central Florida announced today the United Community Relief Fund has received a $50,000 challenge grant from an anonymous donor for Giving Tuesday Now. The grant will match dollar- for- dollar new donations to the United Community Relief Fund until a total of $50,000 is reached.
Giving Tuesday Now is a global day of giving and unity on May 5, 2020 as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. The United Community Relief Fund was established by GiveWell Community Foundation and United Way of Central Florida in March to respond to the COVID-19 needs in our community.
So far, the United Community Relief Fund has raised more than $400,000. In April, a total of $310,000 was awarded to 34 local nonprofit organizations providing COVID-19 relief.
Donations to the United Community Relief Fund can be made online by visiting unitedcommunityrelief.org. 100 percent of donations to the Fund go directly to nonprofits providing COVID-19 relief for residents of Polk, Hardee, and Highlands counties.
