LAKELAND, FL (July 2, 2024) – GiveWell Community Foundation (GWCF) is pleased to announce its 2024-2025 board officers, and the addition of three new board members.

With the start of the new fiscal year on July 1, 2024, the following officers will serve two-year terms: Kimberly Elmhorst, board chair; Wesley Barnett, vice chair; Doug McPherson, treasurer; Jason Rodda, secretary; and Jay Gray, immediate past board chair.

The three new members – Jackie Byrd, Kristen Labbe, and Jerry Mixon – were unanimously approved at the final board meeting of GWCF’s 2023-2024 fiscal year in May. “We are excited to welcome these new board members who are passionate about serving our community,” said Callie Neslund, GWCF’s President and CEO. “Their leadership, experience, and commitment will be great assets to the GiveWell Community Foundation board.”

Get to know each of the new board members below.

Jackie Byrd recently retired from Polk County Public Schools. Jackie served as Superintendent of Schools with the responsibility of leading the seventh largest school district in the state of Florida. She is currently a member of Lakeland Regional Institutional Review Board, United Way of Central Florida ADT, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Jackie lives in Lakeland with her husband, Jason, and they have two children.
James Previte
Kristen Labbe currently serves as a Client Accounting and Advisory Principal for CliftonLarsonAllen, serving the nonprofit and state & local government industries. She has 13 years of accounting and leadership experience, providing audit, accounting, and tax services to clients of varying sizes. Kristen’s civic engagement includes Leadership Lakeland Class 39, Somos Church, Swan City Soccer Club, and Lakeland TigerTown Rotary.
Garrett Roberts
Jerry Mixon owns KLM Farms/6M Farms/6M Rentals where he oversees 400 acres of juice and fresh citrus production, as well as investing in and refurbishing multiple rental properties. He previously served as Vice President of Farming Operations for SunnyRidge Farm and Dole Food Company. Having lived in Winter Haven since the late 70s, Jerry is active in a number of local nonprofits, including All Saints Academy, LifeChoice Pregnancy Center, The Mission, Heart for Winter Haven, and the Dundee Citrus Growers Association.
