Five new board members join the GiveWell Community Foundation Board of Directors. From left: Bo Boyte, Bruce Davis, Doug McPherson, Sandra Sheets, and Jillian Spangler.

LAKELAND, FL (June 21, 2019) – Five new board members have been selected to serve the GiveWell Community Foundation Board of Directors beginning July 1. The new members are:

Bo Boyte is a lifelong resident of Polk County and a Vice President and Commercial Lender at Bank of Central Florida. He holds an associate degree from Polk State College and a Business Management degree from the University of Florida. Bo is active in the Polk County community and has served as President of several organizations including the Lake Wales Rotary Club, Lake Wales Care Center, Lake Wales Family YMCA, and the Lake Wales Little League. In his free time, he enjoys church, his wife of 19 years, and raising two wonderful daughters.

Bruce Davis is President and Owner of Bruce A. Davis & Associates, Inc., an insurance agency in Winter Haven. A graduate of the University of Florida, Bruce was a founding board member of All Saints Academy and CenterState Bank and has served as President of the Haines City Chamber of Commerce, Heart of Florida Hospital, and Ridge Association of Health Underwriters and Treasurer of All Saints Academy, Ridge Association of Health Underwriters, and Lake Region Yacht & Country Club.

Doug McPherson is a Vice President and Private Banker for Citizens Bank & Trust. Doug’s focus is working with individuals and families in delivering investment, trust and estate planning, credit and banking solutions. A native Floridian, Doug graduated from Winter Haven High School, Polk State College, and Florida State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance and Marketing. Doug enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and watching Florida State athletics and auto sports.

Sandra Sheets is a shareholder at Gray Robinson’s Lakeland office who practices in estate and tax planning, estate and trust administration, with an emphasis on business succession planning involving closely held businesses. Sandra received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland and her Juris Doctor degree from the George Washington University. Born in Winter Haven, Sandra is a graduate of Leadership Lakeland and serves on the board of several organizations including Polk Museum of Art, Imperial Symphony Orchestra, and Lakeland Regional Medical Center Foundation.

Jillian Spangler is a corporate attorney in Winter Haven. Jillian graduated Rollins College with a bachelor’s degree in International Business and a Master of Business Administration in International Business, Management and Marketing from the Crummer Graduate School of Business. She also received a Juris Doctor from the Stetson University College of Law. Jillian is Past President of the Rotary Club of Winter Haven and enjoys being active in the community and traveling around the world.

The new board members will fill vacancies left by five outgoing members. The board of directors is the governing body for the GiveWell Community Foundation. Learn more about our board of directors here.
