Dear GWCF fundholders and friends:
As Hurricane Ian approaches the coast of Florida, I’m writing to let you know that GiveWell Community Foundation and United Way of Central Florida have activated the United Community Relief Fund (UCRF) to support our community in recovery efforts. Our priority will be ensuring safety, shelter, and providing for basic needs for those affected by the storm. Later, our focus would shift to medium- to long-term recovery efforts.
Donations to the UCRF can be made at unitedcommunityrelief.org. Donor advised fundholders may request grants from their fund to the UCRF using the online donor portal. 100% of your donation to the Fund will go towards helping residents of Polk, Hardee, and Highlands counties recover from the aftermath of Hurricane Ian.
Our offices will be closed the remainder of the week, however our staff will do their best to be available remotely. Once the storm has passed, we will evaluate when we can resume normal operations and will provide an update as soon as we are able.
I hope you and your families stay safe.
Warm regards,
John A. Attaway, Jr.
