For the first time since 1957, U.S. Census Bureau data shows Florida as the nation’s fastest-growing state, with a large amount of that increase focused on our central Florida communities. Our fast-paced growth necessitates continuously taking stock on the headwinds and tailwinds facing our area – keeping a pulse on the changing needs of our residents and the nonprofit landscape. It also underscores the importance of GiveWell Community Foundation’s mission to champion charitable giving to improve the quality of life in the areas we serve, both now and for future generations.
Because of you, the Community Foundation has grown its assets to $620 million, ensuring that local nonprofit organizations can continue their impactful work and invest in sustainable systems and processes. In this year’s highlights, you’ll also read about our record-setting grantmaking totaling $57 million. This is a reflection of your continued generosity and of our nonprofit community’s willingness to increase capacity and meet evolving needs.
As stewards of our community’s philanthropic dollars, we remain committed to addressing the most critical challenges. The findings of the United Community Needs Assessment, a joint effort with United Way of Central Florida, inform our work. As such, we’re thrilled to be collaborating with UWCF to launch a real-time data dashboard which will allow us to track trends and bring our collective resources and voices to the local issues that matter most.
