Impact Polk 2017: “Bridge the Gap to School Readiness – My Own Library” by United Way of Central Florida’s Family Fundamentals
Bridge the Gap to School Readiness – My Own Library receives Impact Polk 2017 grant through Grants Committee
Bridge the Gap to School Readiness is a five-day a week program specifically designed to teach and model outcome based activities preparing children to enter school ready to succeed. In a quality, developmentally appropriate environment, children and their caregivers experience a literacy rich environment in the classroom itself and within the “play” experiences provided. The “My Own Library” program provides the children with age-appropriate books to take home as their own. They are building their home library while their caregivers now have access to quality resources to continue the learning/teaching process and become the best first teacher they can for the child.
