43rd Annual Banquet Celebration

Anchor House Ministries is thrilled to have Michael Williams, an entrepreneur and former Anchor House resident, as the guest speaker for their 43rd Annual Banquet. The celebration takes place Monday, November 13, 5:45pm at First Presbyterian Church, 175 Lake Hollingsworth Drive in Lakeland.

Anchor House Ministries is a faith-based program located in Auburndale, Fla., which offers traditional, group homes on a ten-acre campus for boys ages 10-17 who are abandoned, abused, or neglected. It also offers off-campus, transitional housing for young men ages 18+ who have “aged-out” of the foster care system.

Michael Williams faced significant hardships and obstacles throughout his life after being birthed to a mother who used drugs her entire pregnancy, Williams lived in almost 40 different homes while in foster care, and found himself homeless within the first three years of aging out of the system. Rather than becoming a statistic, Williams chose to be a light of hope, belief, and inspiration.

“This year we wanted to bring the theme of ‘perspective’ to our audience,” says Executive Director, Dr. Joseph Davis. “Our donors who attend the banquet want to better relate to the realities our young men face.” Davis continues, “Mike Williams is the embodiment of our ‘Changing Lives. Restoring Hope.’ motto. He has been exactly where our boys are and is a true overcomer!”

A graduate of Tallahassee Community College, Williams is currently working on a Business Management degree at Daytona State College. He is also the Founder & CEO of Inspiring Self Success, an organization that focuses on inspiring young people to overcome personal challenges and empowering them to make positive life choices.

Additionally Williams assisted in designing a product called My JumpVault, which provides instant access to health and personal records to youth in foster care, foster parents, and social workers. In 2013, the Florida Legislature provided funding to the Department of Children and Families to procure his program statewide. Williams has also been an advocate helping pass several Florida laws in regards to those in foster care (Letting Kids be Kids, Extension of Foster Care to 21, A Walk in the Park, Keys to Independence).
