Two Winter Haven area medical clinics received grants thanks to the Yardley, England, Trimmer, and Orlich Charities Fund at the Central Florida Foundation
We are pleased to announce that two clinics have been awarded funding from a grant administered through the GiveWell Community Foundation. The purpose of the grant, awarded by the Yardley, England, Trimmer, and Orlich Charities Fund at the Central Florida Foundation, was to fund organizations in the Winter Haven vicinity that provide medical, hospital, and other care for sick and injured persons who are not financially able to obtain this type of care.
Angels Care Center of Eloise, Inc. received funding to provide dental care, orthopedic procedures, and vision treatments including eye surgeries for indigent, migrant, and homeless residents living in the greater Winter Haven community.
Central Florida Health Care also received funding to develop an educational program about “the ABCs of knowing your numbers.” The “A” stands for A1c test results, which are an important diabetic indicator about blood sugar levels; “B” is for blood pressure; and “C’ is for Cholesterol. Early detection and patient awareness are the key to addressing these issues before they become more serious.
Thank you, Central Florida Foundation, for allowing the GiveWell Community Foundation to administer this grant, and congratulations to these two nonprofits who are dedicated to helping those who otherwise wouldn’t have access to quality health care.
