Impact Polk 2017: “Building Better Readers” by Polk Education Foundation

Impact Polk grant through the George W. Jenkins Fund within the GiveWell Community Foundation

Polk Education Foundation received an Impact Polk Grant for “Building Better Readers,” a program of Our AmeriCorps Polk Reads, to provide a tutor team that will serve approximately 400 low performing K-3 students on their reading level to build on their reading skills and reach performance measures for their appropriate grade.  The program helps during the school day which eliminates the burden of getting to and from before/after school programs. The program will measure phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension.
