Impact Polk 2017: YMCA of West Central Florida’s “Adaptive Programming: Golf and Unique Actions”

Impact Polk grant through the Community Foundation’s Grants Committee The Adaptive Program: Golf and Unique Actions is an inclusive program for youth and adults with special needs. This program allows children and adults to participate in activities at the YMCA with their peers, while working on their social / play interaction. The program will serve approximately 400 individuals and families. Whether on the golf course, in the pool, or gymnastics center, each participant is unique in their ability, but one thing they have in common is their passion for doing their best. Low student / teacher ratios are used in order to maximize the learning process. Activities include: Family Nights at the Y, specialty swim and gymnastics programming, family support and day programming in the summer, specifically designed golf instruction, and participation in the Special Olympics.
